Wasawat Somno (@giang_ws, 1994) is a programmer, live-coding audio/visual performer (aka WrappedByte), VJ, creative technologist, artist, curator, promoter, and event organizer. His creative practice integrates code at its core, exploring a diverse range of tools, frameworks, and speculative ideas.
Wasawat's performances span club culture, art exhibitions, and international live-coding communities, with appearances at evals (live coding at Bangkok Kunsthalle), Para Cartography (for Vietnam Media Lab, Ho Chi Minh City), Ghost2565, NonNonNon Bangkok, Road to Diage and Diage Festival, Algorapture (Jakarta), Interlude (Ho Chi Minh City), and AlgoSeoul (Seoul).
He is also deeply involved in organizing events that support the tech-art and experimental electronic music scenes in Thailand and the region. He has co-organized BYOB (Bring Your Own Beamer) with members of JAAG and ZonZon Ztudio, and led various workshops and performance events such as Cybernaut Party (at Unformat) and Hear/Hex/Halt (at Goethe Thailand) which brought together artists from New York, Ho Chi Minh City, Yogyakarta, and Seoul under the collective Cornea Cochlear Club. Wasawat co-organized and curated in Player 2 Has Entered The Server, a tech-art initiative in collaboration with Goethe-institut Thailand, under the group name Stack. Wasawat also co-organized TouchDesigner Bangkok Meetup under the group name TDBKK.
He regularly collaborates with other artists to explore new technical and conceptual possibilities. Notably, he contributed to “THE IMMORTALS ARE QUITE BUSY THESE DAYS” by Nawin Nuthong. Lately, he also started to work on his own project such as netart piece like Poetic Garden
